Watchkeeper Receives Special Mention at DAME Design Awards 2025

We’re excited to share that Watchkeeper has received a Special Mention at the DAME Design Awards 2025 during this year’s METSTRADE show in Amsterdam.

Following our Innovation Route Award win at the Cannes Yachting Festival, this new recognition strengthens Watchkeeper’s reputation as a next-generation maritime safety solution, designed to bring AI-powered object detection and risk reduction to boats of all sizes.

Recognized for Innovation in Marine Design

“This recognition shows that the maritime industry not only sees the need for smarter vision-based safety but also values solutions that make it scalable and accessible,” said our CEO Marcus Warrelmann.

“We’re thrilled to receive this Special Mention. It marks a new milestone in our mission to deliver smarter safety at sea.”

The DAME Jury praised Watchkeeper for its blend of performance and design, stating in their official report:

“This modular AI-powered lookout platform improves situational awareness by alerting users to floating hazards, man-overboard events, and marine mammals. Utilizing 4K low-light and optional thermal vision, this welcome design iteration brings SEA.AI’s now established technology into a lower price band and smaller form factor, making it accessible to a broader range of users.”

Watchkeeper SPECIAL MENTION at DAME Awards 2025

Watchkeeper: Maritime Vision for All Vessels

Built to complement both sailing and motor vessels, the system’s weatherproof construction and balanced proportions allow seamless integration into any yacht or bridge environment.

Its compact housing (110 × 163 × 86 mm) and lightweight design (around 1 kg) enclose optical and thermal sensors capable of detecting a person overboard or a buoy up to 900 meters away, and larger vessels at over 2 kilometers, depending on models and camera set-up.

One Platform, Seven Versions

Based on one platform with seven versions, Watchkeeper adapts to all kinds of boats — from compact sailing yachts to large motor vessels.

Every detail — from cable routing to mounting versatility — reflects our design approach: making advanced maritime vision practical, elegant, and ready for real-world conditions.

Available from €4,490 excl. VAT, it brings professional-grade vision safety within reach for a wider boating community.

Award-Winning Technology Becoming Industry Standard

Since our Innovation Route Award win at the Cannes Yachting Festival and a Marine Research Hub Innovation and Sustainability Award nomination at Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, Watchkeeper is already gaining traction as “standard equipment” across several forward-thinking boatbuilders and OEMs.

Modular Integration and Global Expansion

Our modular architecture allows installations from compact, single-camera lowlight setups to a full three-camera configuration with two thermal sensors. Integration with networked navigation systems delivers instant alerts to the helm or handheld devices, providing an extra set of unblinking eyes on the water and peace of mind for vessel operators.

With a growing network of over 150 global dealers and OEM partners, we continue to expand our reach through key collaborations that embed our technology directly into new-build production lines, marinas, retailers, and marine electronics specialists.

Through this rapid industry uptake, we are bringing vision-based safety technology from luxury yachts and high-duty-cycle commercial vessels to mainstream recreational boaters.

Maritime Multi-Object Tracking: How AI Identifies Every Object on the Water

Detection tells you what is on the water. Multi-Object Tracking tells you what each contact is, where it came from, and where it is going — for every object in the scene, simultaneously. That is the difference between a snapshot and operational intelligence.

Maritime surveillance depends on AIS and radar. When either fails, goes dark, or gets spoofed, the operational picture disappears. AI-powered visual intelligence is how you close that gap.
