Watchkeeper Wins Cannes Innovation Route Award 2025

We are proud to announce that our Watchkeeper system has been awarded the Innovation Route Award at the Cannes Yachting Festival in the category “Solutions that improve the navigation experience.”

This award celebrates the most forward-thinking companies in the marine sector, highlighting technologies that enhance safety, comfort, and performance on the water.

From more than 120 entries, the jury selected Watchkeeper because it makes advanced collision avoidance accessible to every boater.

Why Watchkeeper Matters

Collisions are one of the leading causes of serious marine accidents, often involving debris, unlit buoys, marine mammals, or even people in the water—hazards that radar or AIS frequently miss. Nighttime only makes this risk greater.

Coming into harbor late, with low visibility and buoys blending into the dark water, can turn a routine arrival into a nerve-racking experience. Watchkeeper changes that.

Our system combines:

  • Ultra-wide 4K optics

  • Optional thermal imaging

  • AI trained on millions of marine objects

With these capabilities, Watchkeeper detects and classifies hazards, calculates risk, and alerts crews to urgent dangers—day or night.

Built on Innovation and Community

Winning the Innovation Route Award is a huge honor—not just for our technology, but for the team and community behind it.

Since 2018, when we were still known as OSCAR, offshore racing partners helped create the first training dataset by sailing through brutal 24-hour conditions to teach our AI how to detect floating hazards that other systems, and even the human eye, can miss.

Our earliest customers were pioneers. Their trust and feedback shaped Watchkeeper into what it is today. Thanks to our partners and distribution network, this technology now reaches crews all over the world.

This award proves that real innovation isn’t built in a lab—it’s built on trust, grit, and a shared drive to make the sea safer for everyone.
