How SEA.AI's Technology Works
SEA.AI combines advanced optical and thermal cameras with proprietary machine vision AI, trained on millions of maritime images collected since 2018, to detect, classify and track objects in real time.
Deployed onboard vessels or at fixed locations, the technology continuously monitors maritime environments, providing 24/7 situational awareness and automatically alerting crews and operators to potential hazards and threats, including those radar or AIS may miss.
SEA.AI acts as an untiring 24-hour lookout, detecting and classifying vessels, floating hazards, people in the water, and marine mammals, then surfacing what matters most in a clear, easy-to-read alert.
A CONTINUOUS VISUAL LOOKOUT
React Sooner
SEA.AI sees better than the human eye, spotting floating obstacles of any size by day, by night, and in adverse conditions, then pushes real-time alerts and tracking data so crews and operators have more time to respond.
EARLIER AWARENESS. BETTER DECISIONS.
Navigate Smarter
An intuitive on-board interface pairs integrated image processing with a live understanding of the vessel’s surroundings, supporting crewed, reduced-crew, and autonomous vessels alike.
FROM ASSISTED NAVIGATION TO AUTONOMY

See Everything, Miss Nothing
Detecting beyond radar, AIS and the human eye
From small floating obstacles and people overboard to marine mammals, unlit vessels and other potential dangers, SEA.AI detects, classifies and tracks objects that can go unnoticed by radar and AIS, or remain invisible to the human eye, especially at night.
Powered by proprietary machine vision AI, the system helps crews and operators identify hazards earlier, maintain situational awareness and respond with greater confidence, day or night.
A new dimension of maritime situational awareness
Radar and AIS are essential, but neither gives a complete picture of what’s on the water.
SEA.AI adds maritime machine vision, detecting, classifying and tracking objects in real time, including those without an AIS signal or reliable radar return.
Together, these technologies give crews and operators a fuller view of their surroundings, improving safety, security and decision-making at sea and along the coast.

FAQs
What is SEA.AI technology?
SEA.AI is a maritime Machine Vision system. It pairs low-light and thermal cameras with onboard artificial intelligence to detect, classify, and track vessels, floating hazards, people in the water, and marine wildlife in real time, then alerts the crew, acting as a collision avoidance assistant that extends what radas and AIS can see.
How does SEA.AI detect objects at sea?
SEA.AI runs a four-stage pipeline: optical and thermal cameras capture a real-time image, AI detection isolates objects against open water, classification identifies what type of object it is, and the crew receives an instant alarm, all in under one second.
What's the difference between SEA.AI Machine Vision and Sensor Fusion?
Machine Vision is SEA.AI’s camera-and-AI detection system on its own. Sensor Fusion combines that with the vessel’s existing AIS and radar data, adding object trajectory prediction and full maritime situational awareness on top of what the cameras alone provide.
Can SEA.AI detect people in the water?
Yes. SEA.AI is trained to detect and identify persons in the water, small floating hazards, and marine mammals such as whales, object types that AIS and radar cannot reliably detect.
Does SEA.AI need an internet connection to work?
No. SEA.AI’s camera unit and onboard AI processing work stand-alone, without an internet connection.
